The collector was a beloved nurse in the community, and many of her quilts were gifts from grateful patients, relative, and friends. This particular quilt is made of patches cut from scraps of unused, discarded cotton clothing and possibly flour sacks. The colors are vibrant -- mostly shades of blue, red, purple, and tan. The quilt is made with no batting; this indicates that it was made to be used as a bedspread or summer quilt. We believe that the quilt has been washed in a washing machine, but we would recommend dry cleaning rather than washing the quilt. It is in excellent -- almost pristine -- condition with no loose stiches, no tears, no stains This quilt measures 86 inches by 88 inches. Depending upon the HEIGHT of your bed and mattress, this quilt could be used as a coverlet on a standard full/double bed, a queen-sized bed, or an antique three-quarter bed. It is possible that there may be some imperfections, but we have found none. The quilt appears to be in impeccable condition. The measurements are a bit odd at 86 inches by 88 inches -- slightly larger than a normal double bed coverlet and slightly smaller than a typical queen sized bed coverlet. It is the height of your mattress that will determine whether this quilt will fit your bed. Please measure carefully. less
