A watercolor landscape depicting a farm in the Icelandic countryside. The painting was a gift from the artist Thomas B. Gay, who was stationed with the 624th Eng. Camouflage Company, stationed in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1943.

Thomas B. Gay(1917-2006) Born in Richmond, VA. He studied painting at Amagansett Art School, Long Island; Yale School of Fine arts; and the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL.
He served in the Army during WWII and was stationed in Iceland in 1942. When he returned from the war, he taught art in the Richmond Public Schools for thirty-one years. Later in life, he studied and wrote poetry which he continued until age 83.
