The Iconic Italian Fortuny handmade silk fabric chandelier is rare example with 12 Venetian glass shades (instead of the more expected 5, 7 or 9 shades).
Designed by the renowned Mariano Fortuny, the silk chandelier blends styles from Venetian, Moorish, and Oriental designs, with elements of Art Nouveau and even Art Deco. Scudo Saraceno translates to Saracen Shield – Saracen was a term used in medieval Europe to describe Muslims. This exotic design reflects Mariano Fortuny’s interest in Saracen artistic themes.
The handblown glass is complimented by renowned Venetian silk tassels, Murano glass beads, and bronze fittings. Please see close-up photos for actual color (unlit).
This chandelier was selected and purchased at the atelier in Venice by the original owner.
Pricing includes door-to-door delivery in the San Francisco Bay Area (and possibly Los Angeles). We do not recommend shipping this delicate and complicated piece.
