Pair of neoclassical style lamps with hand painted parchment shades. The neoclassical style draws heavily on classical antiquity, with elements such as symmetrical shapes and decorative motifs inspired by ancient Greece and Rome.
The body of these lamps is in the shape of an urn, which is also common in neoclassical design. The use of gold leaf on decorative elements, such as swags and acanthus leaves is also typical of this style. The design is very balanced and symmetrical, a hallmark of neoclassical aesthetics.
