A 19th century folk art hanging shelf in the form of a half hull, the copper hull with a rope-turned … Read more A 19th century folk art hanging shelf in the form of a half hull, the copper hull with a rope-turned top edge above incised eagles flanking a central shield with a two-headed eagle surrounded on each side with floral motifs, the oak back and self adorned with brass hanging hooks with heart-shaped backs. Is it art or furniture? A mixture of both in this one of a kind piece that makes a unique statement. The copper hull exhibits wear and patina of its age and the overall condition is excellent given the fact that it dates from 1850-70. This multi-purpose piece is excellent fr display on the top shelf as well as a rack to hang hats, jackets, keys, whatever. A spectacular artisan work of art. See less
