This rare and vibrant fiber art sculpture by Barbara Barron, signed and dated 1984, features richly dyed textile cords in a gradient palette of black, crimson, burgundy, and mauve. The piece is composed of dozens of tightly wrapped fiber tubes that cascade and ripple organically, creating a dynamic visual texture and a strong sculptural presence.
Unlike Barron’s more curvilinear wall sculptures, this piece is structured in a layered, horizontal composition and is divided into two attached panels, allowing for flexible hanging or interpretation. The fibers have aged naturally over time, and there are visible signs of wear, including some fading and minor surface abrasions (shown in photos).
A striking and dimensional work that bridges textile art and sculpture, perfect for collectors of postmodern fiber art or those seeking a statement piece with bold color and movement.
