This elegant altar table dates to the early 19th century and exemplifies the artistry of traditional Chinese craftsmanship. The side panels are intricately carved with dragon-and-scroll motifs, while the front and back spandrels feature auspicious cloud designs—symbols of good fortune and harmony. Designed to be viewed from both sides, this table makes an impressive freestanding statement. It is constructed using traditional wooden peg and mortise-and-tenon joinery, ensuring strength and stability. Made from the core of elm wood, it showcases a rich, natural grain enhanced by its original patina and wear. A solid and beautifully detailed piece, this altar table has been preserved in excellent condition. A fine example of 19th-century Chinese furniture with enduring historical and decorative value.
