Looking for a piece that brings instant warmth, wit, and a touch of Celtic cheer? This framed Irish tea towel—bearing the classic toast "May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you are dead"—has delighted viewers for over four decades. Originally a tourist shop gem, it was lovingly glued to cardboard by a dedicated family member and custom framed at The Wood Trader in Cleveland, Ohio (13104 Buckeye Road), around 45 years ago.
For many years, this piece brought daily joy and a wink of Irish humor to our home—one filled with Jameson whiskey, boisterous sing-alongs, and a warm hearth. The genuine wood frame (with anti-glare cover) makes it ready to hang in any den, office, or home hang-out space. Though some light dust has crept under the glass over time, it remains in good vintage condition and bursting with soul. We suspect the decorative linen edges were trimmed to fit, and it’s now permanently bonded to its cardboard backing—a true piece of Irish-American heritage.

Guaranteed to spark conversation—especially after a dram or two.

Some faint dust has settled under the frame over time, but it's barely visible and doesn’t detract from the charm. The piece has been preserved behind anti-glare cover in a solid wood frame and comes ready to hang. Lovingly assembled over 45 years ago by a family member with a great eye, larger-than-life personality, and a steady hand—this is not just decor, it’s conversation-ready folk art with a story to tell. less
