Beautiful 19th-century Louis XVI painted Bergere with intricate carving and fluted legs. The finish is a naturally distressed grey with patinaed wood coming through. The chair is intricately carved with roses, the frame features rais-de-coeurs motifs. The chair is a very beautiful antique carved French chair with a subtle painted finish.
The current upholstery is Ralph Lauren Windemere on the front and a Brunschwig & Fils silk plaid on the back. Both fabrics are discontinued. The seat cushion is down. The chair is quite comfortable for an antique French Chair of this age and formality.
Originally, the wings were caned. The chair was professionally upholstered in the 1990s.
