A contemporary abstract ink and watercolor wash titled "Three and Five" by Paul VerBurg. Hand signed lower right. Overlapping organic shapes in deep green, amber, and maroon create a semi-translucent structure, punctuated by a recurring motif of circular forms—three solid, five outlined—that echo the title and introduce a quiet numerical rhythm. The surrounding field is delicately stippled in ink, grounding the composition in a tactile, meditative texture. This work showcases VerBurg’s signature fusion of geometry, fluidity, and compositional balance. From a private collection; acquired directly from the artist. Dimensions: 30.75 inches tall, 24.5 inches wide, and 1 inch deep (framed). In excellent condition.
Paul VerBurg is a multidisciplinary artist trained in drawing and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Now based in Okemos, Michigan, VerBurg explores sculpture, assemblage, and abstract painting rooted in natural and physical forms. His work—ranging from plein air landscapes to genre-blending abstractions—has been exhibited nationally at institutions including the Eiteljorg Museum and the Autry Museum, and featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West. Active since the 1980s, his practice reflects a continual evolution of media and subject.
