Signed in the plate In very good conditions with slight foxing. The subject of this print is based on a scene in Goethe's play (published in German in 1773; and French in 1823, Goethe's drama, fourth act. Created by Delacroix, published on Magasin Pittoresque, Paris, 1845 Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix ( 1798- 1863) was an important French Romantic artist regarded and leader of the French Romantic school .
