A large ceramic airplane handcrafted by Candelario Medrano (1918-1986), likely in the 1950s - 1960s. Medrano was a master figural ceramist with an imaginative style of his own. This hand-painted piece is colorfully adorned and features five acrobats in flight. The acrobats are attached with wire and the positioning is adjustable. These will be detached for safe shipping. To reattach, you simply slide the wire back into the hole in the airplane base, and bent the figure into a position of your liking.
This highly collectible piece of Mexican folk art is in excellent vintage condition and is unsigned (typical for Medrano during this time). Candelario Medrano's pieces are in folk art museums worldwide.
