Due to the shape and removable lid, there are several possible historical uses worth considering:
Antique container made of mahogany wood - hand-turned, 64.5 cm
Hand-turned, with a unique form resembling an ornamental column with a lid. The upper part (container) is removable and has a depth of 6.6 cm and a diameter of 4.5 cm. The lid has an internal diameter of 5.5 cm and a depth of 3.5 cm.
The whole thing measures 64.5 cm in height, the diameter of the base is 21 cm, and the diameter of the leg - 6.7 cm. The item is preserved in very good condition, with a beautiful patina.
An elegant container for spices or herbs, or maybe snuff.
A decorative element for a living room or library.
Most likely late 19th century - early 20th century (1880-1920). The style of workmanship and quality of the wood suggest Western European craftsmanship (e.g. England or France), although colonial influences are also possible. See less
