The commode features two … Read more Neoclassical commode hand-made in Italy in the early 1800s using walnut and decorated with walnut veneer. The commode features two smaller drawers over two larger ones, all showing beautiful, hand-made dovetail joints. All drawers are overlay and are decorated with alternating grains of walnut and olive veneer, giving it a lot of decoration and depth. The bleaching process really brought out the different striation of the walnut and the olive wood, showing a beautiful alternation of different hues of gray, ivory and light pink. The veneer decoration is found also on the sides, and the top giving the piece beautiful balance.
Overall this is a highly decorative piece, as well as being functional. See less
