The vase is spherical in shape, with a relatively narrow opening and an enlarged, decorated base. The raised areas are glazed in a pinkish-beige tone with warm highlights. The hollows, on the other hand, are glazed in a dark green to black, offering a strong contrast with the raised parts. The relief work evokes an Art Deco style, even inspired by Art Nouveau in its undulating forms. Revernay refers to the ceramic workshop of Émile Revernay, active in Boulogne-sur-Seine (France) in the early 20th century, particularly around 1920-1930. He is known for his pieces in flamed or glazed stoneware, often simply signed Revernay, and sometimes associated with artists or potters such as Jean Mayodon or Edmond Lachenal.
Pieces signed Revernay are highly sought-after by collectors, especially those with such elaborate decoration.
