A magnificent mid 19th century Swedish hand crafted and painted pine wedding dowry chest / luggage trunk, dated 1855.
This large and impressive chest features high quality craftsmanship, incredibly detailed and elaborate exceptionally executed Neo-Classical scenery, finished in rich, bold and vibrant colors, retaining the original iron lock, key, straps and handles, the arched dome top opens to reveal a large and spacious interior fitted with a single lidded compartment to one side. The interior has various writings in pencil and is signed.
Adding to the charm, the painted sides read "1855" "BN" and "1958" "KN" indicating it was likely a family heirloom used again in the mid 20th century.
This beautiful, scarce and truly unique statement piece is sure to spark conversation while it brightens any room.
