Large, beautifully built and decorated 19th C. Export Trunk.
Black, Green, Red, Gold and White lacquer paint decorated on significant wood frame.
Interior wash of traditional Chinese red with an artist signature in white Chinese characters.
Happy figures are mothers and children playing - thus a prized family piece and potentially a wedding trousseau.

Very clean inside, with significant platform style feet and base design.
Heavy hardware hinges - present as original.
Graphics on three sides, and rear is finished flat black. Shows well from all sides.
Original paintwork shows patina and aging, but is still very vibrant and entirely charming.

We love case goods, and we love Chinoiserie...so wow! We've enjoyed this as a sofa / corner table with an added glass top, and as the end-of-bed table on a taller bed.
This is clearly British Export era 19th C., and in miraculous original condition. If you love this mix of periods, this piece is perfect!
