The sculpture features three figures and several cherubic faces at the top. One figure is supporting the fainting Virgin Mary, while another figure, likely representing Christ, is being held by the Virgin. This scene is a common motif in Christian art, particularly during the medieval period. This is an extremely heavy piece it is is carved in oak it his 12” thick, 84” tall and 55” wide, it has some visible colour on the relief, a wonderful piece with no “restoration” See less
