Christian Durupt was a French cabinetmaker working in the 1960s and known for his solid wood creations. He notably collaborated with Charlotte Perriand on the design of the Savoir ski resorts. Steeped in history, this rare set of stools comes from the Méribel ski resort in France.
Pair of stools designed by Christian Durupt for the Les Arcs ski resort in the 1960s.
Made of solid pine, probably pine, these stools reflect the functional simplicity and raw aesthetic characteristic of the interior design of the mountain residences designed by Charlotte Perriand, with whom Durupt collaborated closely.
The slightly overhanging square top with two curved sides rests on a sturdy structure with four straight or slightly inclined legs.
Provenance: Les Arcs, circa 1960 This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
