Elegant and refined pair of vintage Italian wall hooks made of polished, nickel-plated brass. Each hook features a sturdy metal structure: the circular base houses a yellow crystal insert, and mounting holes are located on the underside for wall installation. A perpendicular metal arm is fixed to the base, ending with a shaped yellow crystal with softly rounded edges. A simple construction with a rational, innovative, and functional aesthetic.
This design corresponds to a patented model (as marked beneath the metal base), produced by Veca between 1970 and 1973. This pair may have been the result of a collaboration with Fontana Arte. Veca is an Italian manufacturer known for producing high-quality glass and metal bathroom accessories, particularly active during the mid-20th century modern design era. Although historical information on the company is limited, Veca is recognized for the elegance and craftsmanship of its creations, often distinguished by the use of colored glass and chrome-plated finishes. Fontana Arte, founded in Milan in 1932 by Luigi Fontana and Gio Ponti, is a leading name in Italian design. Specializing in glasswork and decorative furnishings, the company is especially renowned for its pioneering lighting designs. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Fontana Arte collaborated with many prominent designers, consistently incorporating glass as a signature material. While no official sources confirm a long-term partnership between Veca and Fontana Arte, it is plausible that Veca supplied components or produced items for Fontana Arte during certain periods, given their shared expertise in glass and metal craftsmanship. The pair is in good overall condition but shows visible oxidation on the nickel-plated surfaces, as seen in the photos.
