Dimensions: 37 ⅛” H x 50 ½” W x ¾” D
This framed charcoal study from 1920s England draws the viewer into an academic landscape where students at their easels concentrate on figure studies, using busts and torso models as reference. The image is dense with figural subjects: the artists as fully-formed people to representations of the human form as sculptural works and the drawings in progress seen clipped to the easels. A hazy sepia tone infuses a warm glow to the otherwise shadowy and monochromatic composition, enhanced by a tactile quality to the paper. No visible signature; framed and matted without glass.
