Dimensions: 34 ¾” H x 48 ⅛” W x 24 ¼” D
A fanciful French marble and iron work table from circa 1860, that would have been a display fixture in a butcher shop or bakery to present the current offerings. The thick, white marble slab has wispy gray veining throughout, finished with a smooth, rounded edge and is lightly speckled with saffron-toned patina. This example does not have the usual trough around the edge like many butcher’s tables of similar style. Cast iron rods forming the base has been shaped to elegant scrolls implying a lyre–reflecting the Neoclassical influence at the time–with turquoise verdigris coming through the reddish brown paint. The table is raised on four casters for mobility, making this a practical addition to a bar, kitchen, greenhouse, or patio.
