This hand-colored 19th-century lithograph of Le Palais Royal en 1679 captures the elegance of pre-Revolutionary Paris through meticulous architectural detail. Drawn by Ferdinand Hoffbauer and published by the renowned Firmin-Didot press, it’s both a work of art and a slice of urban history. I’ve always loved how it offers a bird’s-eye view that invites you to imagine strolling the manicured gardens and arcades of the Palais Royal. The piece is professionally framed in a warm natural wood with a crisp white mat—timeless and ready to hang. A perfect fit for lovers of European history, architecture, or classic Parisian style.
The print bears the inscriptions “F. Hoffbauer del.” (draftsman), “Baylos lith.” (lithographer), and “Firmin-Didot & Cie Éditeurs” (publisher).
