This is an Original Harold Krisel Silk Screen Print 1971 "Blue Curves" #34 in Series of 70.
Harold Krisel was born October 6, 1920. After studying art in New York City and architecture in Chicago, he worked for twelve years as an architectural designer. He exhibited at Chicago Art Institute in 1949 and 1951 and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1954
His passion for creating art began at an early age, when as a child, he used brown paper grocery bags as his canvas. In the 1930’s, as a teenager he received a scholarship to The American Artist School in NYC with Carl Holty and Harry Holtzman. It was Holtzman who brought Mondrian to the states to escape the Blitzkrieg in London. Krisel’s meeting with Mondrian was a key influence on his entry into the world of abstract art.
This particular piece was acquired by owner in 1971 from the New York Graphic Society; Greenwhich, CT and held by the family since.
