Item description:
Beautiful two-handled vase in the shape of a Roman amphora, entirely handmade on a ceramic wheel, with handcrafted acid etching and heavy glazing. The two circular handles, entirely handmade and applied to the vase, are particularly beautiful. Signed Claudio Pulli under the base.
Useful information for evaluating the item:
Our web research shows that Claudio Pulli, in addition to boasting numerous auction results, has several items listed on various online art and antiques sales sites at very high prices. On Pamono, for example, we found a ceramic wild boar offered at €800, a ceramic vase with iridescent pink enamel offered at €560, and a final vase, slightly larger but very similar to ours in style, colors, and technique, offered at €750. This gives an idea of the importance and value of the ceramics created by the artist.
Final considerations on the object:
This vase is a classic example of the techniques used by the artist: engobed and acid-treated, coated in lead and tin glaze, with craquelure induced to antique the piece. A classic example of the artistic ceramics created by Claudio Pulli.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Claudio Pulli was born in Puglia and trained first at the Tavolara school and later in Faenza, where he perfected the techniques of engobe, glazing, lead coating, and tin glaze. Working in Sardinia in Selargius, in the province of Cagliari, he has participated in many fairs and organized various solo exhibitions, one even in Tokyo, presenting his unique pieces inspired by the ancient craftsmanship of Sardinia. In the last photos, we have included biographical information about the artist for those who wish to learn more.
