Description of the item:
Large vase with matching saucer, made of Murano blown glass with a transparent inner layer, onto which bands of orange peel-textured glass paste in various colors have been applied. Finished with iridescent lustres that make the outside of the vase resemble mother-of-pearl and the inside extremely shiny, almost like a mirror. The vase is unsigned but can easily be attributed to the Murano manufacturer Yalos, founded by Guido Ferro, famous for producing this type of glass with an iridescent finish similar to mother-of-pearl.
Useful information for evaluating the item:
Our research has shown that there are many pieces of glassware by Guido Ferro's Yalos offered at very high prices on various online art and antiques sales sites, including two small glass bowls by Yalos, with very similar workmanship. Bear in mind that we are talking about very small bowls, which are nothing like our wonderful set consisting of a large bowl and a large underplate, which is 6-7 times larger in volume than the two bowls mentioned above.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Belonging to the local productive and vital elite, the Ferro family are master glassmakers who have been around since 1630. In the 20th century, they became Gastaldi Maggiori of the Scuola di San Nicolò, which brings together glassmakers and masters and directs the activities of the glassworks. In 1966, Guido Ferro founded "l'Effetre". He later founded YALOS. Today, the company is a recognized and established brand among Murano manufacturers, synonymous with quality and a guarantee of authenticity for every part of the product. Guido Ferro is one of the family's leading figures in the second half of the 20th century, known and appreciated internationally for the quality and beauty of his artistic glass creations.
