Standing on ornately carved walnut cabriole legs and original brass castors, this desk embraces the mid 19th century preference for grandeur. The back side is decorated with three dummy drawers, allowing for placement anywhere in a room; a true statement piece to any home.

In clear hommage to earlier Rococo designs, the fabulously intricate scrollwork is fluid and symmetrical, evoking imagery of flora. The stretcher is just as finely carved and includes a nicely upholstered (and incredibly rare!) foot rest in original condition. The three full length drawers are constructed of cedar, a rare choice for a writing desk, likely to discourage insects. Banded with burl walnut, the top is gold tooled green leather, likely replaced- though not recently. Delicate pendant finials are at each corner, as a little extra adornment.

There is no other desk like this beauty and clearly no expense was spared in the construction of this piece.
