The sampler is worked in wool and silk threads on a linen ground, mainly in cross stitch. Colours green, yellow, light brown, silver, blue and pink. A scattering of motifs, including a house with fir trees and a picket fence, a fruit basket and potted flowering plants. Framed in a modern, gilt over wood, frame with glass. Mounting: The sampler is loose mounted onto board. Frame backed with card and sealed with tape. Handwritten text to the reverse reads, 'Made by Linda Jean Marshall's (not Mathews') Mother.'.
