A beautiful handpainted Henriot Quimper urn-styled vase featuring a nicely detailed Breton couple on one side and the Brittany coat of arms on the other side. The vase body and base feature a classic yellow and blue decor riche border, the handles and rim are sponged in cobalt blue, and the sides of the body and neck have lovely floral decoration. The base is marked "Henriot Quimper" with a painters # indicating this piece was made between 1922 and 1949, but based upon the glaze and clay characteristics it was most certainly produced on the early side of that range.
In excellent condition with the only post production flaw being a glaze fleck (chip to glaze only) to the edge of the rim. Other flaws are related to the production process of this period with errant paint marks, 1/2" long area of missing blue paint on the base edge from glaze crawling, and tiny pinpoint sized areas of glaze crawling.
