Like a fossilised seed bursting with latent energy, this monochrome linocut by Moisès Villèlia transforms organic networks into crisp calligraphic form. Moisès Villèlia”—created to accompany a poem by Belgian-Spanish writer Alain Arias-Misson—the sheet offered here is hand-numbered 89/100 and exemplifies the sculptor’s signature vocabulary of cells, tendrils and spores rendered in pure black-and-white. About the Artist A pioneer of organic abstraction in post-war Spain, Moisès Villèlia transitioned from traditional woodcarving to light, aerial sculptures in bamboo, reeds and nylon during the 1950s. His participation in the 1958 Venice Biennale and subsequent exhibitions alongside Fontana and Chillida positioned him at the forefront of European avant-garde. Villèlia’s drawings and prints—rare on the market—translate his spatial, kinetic ideas into graphic line, as seen in the Aumun portfolio.
