Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown emerald green and gold flecks Italian art glass chunky bowl or ashtray. Documented to designer Ercole Barovier, for Barovier e Toso. Created in the Zebrati design, circa 1949. The design is published in the Barovier company books and catalogs. The bowl has a rounded shape, with 2 cigarette indents on each side, heavy thick walls, and swirling green design. It has an unusual interior bubble decoration, that gives it a three dimensional design in between the layers of glass. The bowl is profusely covered in heavy gold leaf throughout. Would make a great display piece on any coffee table, dresser or credenza. Use it as a catchall, candy dish, or ashtray. Mid-century era. For accuracy, the bottom of the bowl is well worn from age and use (see last photo). Measures 4 3/4" long x 4 1/2" wide x 2 1/4" high.
