The seated figure … Read more This beautiful wood carving depicts one of the many gods, deities and dignitaries of the Taoist pantheon. The seated figure is dressed in a long robe with wide sleeves leaving only the shoes exposed. His head is slightly tilted forward and the right arm is raised with his hand gesturing a Chinese hand seal (Shouyin). The sweet face and soft smile exude calmness and peacefulness. Carved wood with remnants of lacquer. (hints of white, black and a faint rose), wood has been treated, mounted on a contemporary stand. See less
