Both the lid and … Read more This tightly woven bowl measures almost 8" across and roughly 5" tall at its widest dimensions. Both the lid and bowl are leather trimmed at the lip while the bottom features a leather medallion wth geometric design. The composition is coil-sewn grass in three tones with leather embroidery and applied color. It is likely from Nigeria, possibly a product of the Nupe or Hausa. The basket features minimal loss. The British Museum dates a very similar example from 1894 to 1908. See less
