This is a vintage La Musa Terra Cotta Pottery Large Pedestal Bowl. This is hand painted in the La Musa signature Fish design. The pedestal raises the bowl to the height of about 7.5 inches high and it is a shallow bowl that reaches over 15 inches wide. The bowls edges are scalloped like waves and the it is painted with opposite facing fish in fantastic bright sunny colors that are reflective of the region. This was made in Sicily, Italy and is very similar to the DeSimone Pottery, also made in Sicily. La Musa was founded in 1953 by Mario Prinzi in Sicily. We are unsure of the age, as it is in excellent vintage condition and beautifully glazed. It is also signed on the inside of the bowl. This would be great as a centerpiece on a dining table or entry way table, or fill with fantastic dishes.
