Item description:
Pen holder with dog and flower in glazed ceramic, entirely decorated by hand and finally glazed, signed under the base by the manufacturer "La Freccia" with its famous arrow logo and the word "Italy." This pen holder is particularly beautiful, with a small dog made in the caricature style that made this manufacturer famous. It is a Fox Terrier with a disarmingly tender expression and, although small in size, it is truly beautiful!
Useful information for evaluating the item:
Our online research shows that Tarcisio Tosin's ceramics boast numerous auction results ranging from a minimum of €200-300 for items even smaller than our pen holder, up to much higher prices, even €2,000-3,000 for larger and more important items or those with more complex workmanship. We find the same prices, or even higher, for Tosin's items offered for sale on other platforms or online art and antiques sales sites.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
In 1932, Tarcisio Tosin, a renowned Italian artist and ceramist with numerous auction listings to his name, founded his own artistic ceramics manufacturing company, "La Freccia," in Vicenza. From its very first year of activity, the company's production received important recognition, winning a gold medal at the Annual Exhibition of the Veneto Institute of Arts and Crafts. The factory's production, which in the mid-1930s benefited from the collaboration of decorator Beniamino Spolverato, among others, consisted of small sculptures with a popular and caricatural flavor and a futurist imprint, often depicting characters engaged in sports and cheerful animals, of good technical quality and with a happy choice of colors. The factory continued production until 1985.
