Signed & Dated. Standing at a foot and a half tall, this is an impressive museum quality collector’s piece. Alva Studios, primarily associated with Alfred Wolkenberg, was known for producing high-quality replicas. The sculptures, handcrafted in plaster with bronze finish. Often marked "Alva Museum Replicas," the sculptures were sold at museums worldwide. The replicas were produced to high standards, often with museum approval, and were sold directly to museums and to collectors. Alva Studios is still referenced today, particularly among collectors and enthusiasts of museum art. Bessie Potter Vonnoh (1872-1955), an American sculptor known for her small bronzes depicting everyday life, particularly scenes of women and children.
