Early 20th Century French Terracotta brown and yellow glazed Confit Pots
This is an extremely rare set of four brown and yellow glazed confit pots, they are all unique due to their glazing and ear shaped "anse" handles.
These beautiful pots would have been manufactured in the South West of France possibly dating from the late 1800s.
These pots were used to cook and preserve “Confit de Canard”, preserved duck and meat preparations preserved by a thick layer of fat.
One of the most famous recipes being “Cassoulet” which originated in a town called Castelnaudary in the South West.
It is still a favourite winter dish of the region.
These stoneware vessels were once used daily in French country kitchens and can be found in different hues and sizes. Crock jars with two handles, a very basic ceramic slow cooker.
These pots are sturdy and stylish and will blend into any style of home, they can be used in kitchens for cutlery storage, flowerpots or just conversation pieces.
Truly French pieces of history to grace your home.
