The details of the eyes and teeth makes them look real. The carving of the robe; hands/feet; as well as the other parts of this sculpture are all well done. However what I find the most interesting are the micro details of the vertical linear writings, notches, ink marks that appear throughout the sculpture. For example, if you study the vertical line going around the bottom of the belly button, the notches carved from the wood and peppered with black ink, you should be able to make out a micro painting of men, women and children gathered together within a landscape setting. This Buddha is telling a story throughout its markings and I find that fascinating! My wife does not see what I see and claims that this is proof that I am nuts/crazy to which I reply, NO, it is proof that she is blind. See less
