Originally used to grind millet with large wood mortars used together with a large wood pestle stick. These utilitarian art pieces were hand carved out of one solid piece of hardwood, passed down through the families, and used on a daily basis throughout the villages of Ivory Coast and Guinea, West Africa. Each is unique and shows signs of age and use with beautiful patina and history. Great used as display or a unique planter bowl. Opening at top is 14" diameter. See less
