This print, by Shao Yinong and Muchen, is part of a series documenting Chinese history and the devastating cultural and political upheaval of the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s and 1970s. The “Assembly Hall” series documents what has become of former Communist Party gathering places, which have fallen into disuse and are being demolished.

Embossed with artist's seal in the lower right corner. Printed in 2002 from an edition of 8, and appraised by Abigail Hartmann Associates in 2023 for $12,000. Two chromogenic prints in the Assembly Hall series sold at Sotheby’s in 2008 for $17,649 and $13,838. A group of three sold at Sotheby’s in 2006 for $50,400.
