Beautiful Chinese scroll wall hanging / fine painting on silk of two black and white magpies, with yellow and white chrysanthemum flowers on a rocky formation. Very traditional in style, the magpies representing good luck and happiness. The magpies look down upon the outcrop which has a gnarled old Cypress tree behind it with lots of detail on the trunk. The white chrysanthemums on the rocks really 'stand out'.
The calligraphy describes the scene and has three red artist seals. Ink and colour on silk
Original painting by the famous early Qing Dynasty artist Zou Yi Gui, (Chinese 1686-1772), sold for $450,000.
This is after or in the style of the above famous artist scholar. Mid 20th.Century.
