Stunning Vintage large Kuba royal head mask which is made of wood, cloth and raffia and decorated with beaded geometric designs, and cowrie shells , made by the Kuba tribal people and was meant to be worn in ceremoniesThe Kuba tribe uses over twenty different types of masks.
This mask is used in ceremonies also worn at the initiation rites to symbolizes the supernatural being called Woot, who named the animals and other things of creation. Woot was believed to be the first human and the bringer of civilization.
The Kuba are sometimes known as the "Children of Woot". The dancer would have sighted attendants as guardians because the mask has no eye holes.

This Kuba tribally made artifact is in great tribally used condition with a highly intriguing tribal design and would make a fine addition to any African culture collector's treasure trove
