Trained as a chemist, he discovered the potential of polyurethane in the 1960s, working alongside the sculptor César, and made it the star material of his sculptural and movable creations. His world is instantly recognizable: organic shapes, bright colors and a playful, provocative aesthetic. His furniture, which straddles the border between art and design, is now exhibited in several museums, including the Vitra Design Museum and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
Among his most emblematic creations is the "Confident" armchair, also known as "Toi et Moi" (4 models), a double seat with a fluid, S-shaped design, designed to enable two people to converse face-to-face without turning their heads. This model, designed in the 1990s, revisits the 19th-century armchair confidant in a radically contemporary reading, molded in polyurethane resin.
