This beautifully detailed glass art beaker or traditional wine glass was mouth-blown in Germany around 1900 by Ittig Glassworks, which was founded in 1841.
The piece shows impressive glass details such as blobs of fused glass applied to the surface of the colored glass.
The characteristic shape of this striking showpiece is called 'Berkemeyer' or 'Roemer'. It is a traditional glass beaker which was popular in Europe since the 15th Century, especially in the Rhineland area and the Netherlands.
This type of glasses have their roots in the 'Forest Glass' (German: Waldglas) hand-crafted following the tradition of the techniques of the former German forest glassworks. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
