Made of lighter jade soapstone figures and brown tones soapstone base. The hand carved details are refined with artisan strokes and perforations in the sculpture. Designed with a center well for incense that is covered by a lidded sculpture foo dog. Excellent workmanship, in very good preowned condition. No signs of use, no chips, no cracks, no branded box, of unknown era or origin.
The use of incense in feng shui dates back to the Zhou Dynasty (1046–256 BC). During that time, sycee-shaped incense—mimicking the shape of ancient Chinese silver or gold ingots was burned not only as an offering but also as a tool to dispel negative energies and attract good fortune. Includes both 2 pieces, sculpture & finial lid.
