Discover this authentic 1960s Kars Caucasian runner rug—hand-knotted wool on wool with geometric tribal motifs and earthy-pink tones. A rare, beautifully aged vintage piece for hallway or living room decor.
This vintage hand-knotted Caucasian runner rug was woven in the Kars region of Eastern Anatolia during the 1960s, approximately 60 years ago. Measuring 4 ft 4 in x 12 ft 7 in (52 x 151 inches), it embodies the enduring craftsmanship of Turkish village weaving traditions. Created using wool on wool construction, it retains excellent durability and soft texture, suitable for long hallways or gallery spaces.
The rug’s balanced tribal design features a central chain of geometric medallions surrounded by hooked motifs and stylized floral rosettes—typical of the Caucasian-influenced Kars aesthetic. Soft brown, beige, and pink tones harmonize with accents of cream, plum, and faded coral, creating a warm yet vibrant palette that complements both rustic and contemporary interiors.
Despite its vintage age, the rug remains in very good condition, showing gentle patina from time while preserving full structural integrity. It is a rare example of large-scale Caucasian runner weaving with harmonious symmetry and refined coloration.

What Is a Handwoven Rug?
A handwoven or hand-knotted rug is crafted entirely by hand using traditional looms—each knot individually tied by artisans. These rugs carry the cultural memory, artistic identity, and craftsmanship of Anatolia’s weaving heritage, ensuring no two pieces are ever identical.
