Very rare and important pair of lightly restored c hindley & son’s parlor chairs circa 1845 with period hand made … Read more Very rare and important pair of lightly restored c hindley & son’s parlor chairs circa 1845 with period hand made royal coat of arms armorial crests embroidered in to the backrests
these are a very important and substantial pair of chairs, they come complete with the period castors, one of the chairs is stamped on the inside left leg as follows "c hindley & son's 154 oxford st london" and with the order number of 11223
these chairs are very rare, not only due to the maker but also due to the embroidery, these would have been made to decorate a parlor or library, the point of embroidered panels was for the ladies of the era to show that they could keep themselves busy and not be a nuisances to the men, could you imagine such a thing today! the condition is honestly wonderful for the age, i can see some repairs with one of the back legs and the castors have sunk a little from age, all signs of honest age and patina, nothing that affects the use

dimensions height:- 92cm width:- 63cm depth:- 70cm seat height:- 38cm this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
