Circa 1870 "Trinity House" sewing work box, English. Walnut inlaid with exotic woods. From 1850-1880 the men who manned the lighthouses were known for crafting these boxes to while away their time & earn extra money. Pine with bone knobs on chamfered lids. Minor interior losses. Fortification scene. Contrasting woods marquetry of checkered lines & Greek key line inlay borders.
