We’ve all seen the practical, plain and dreary structures of a fishing village somewhere at water’s edge. And we recognize the mindset: in lean circumstances something is good enough until it crumbles. Everything the sea can do to wood is observed in this picture. But, oh what joyful colors. American artist Carl Thorp (1912-1989) found beauty here.
Born in Texas, Thorp is known for his impressionist scenes of California and cityscapes of New York, Boston and New Orleans.
