From Sarreguemines, an over size majolica glazed character jug, The Admiral, France, date marked 1904.
“The Admiral,” is a smiling, red-cheeked, red-nosed middle-aged man with a full head of wavy brown hair.
A bright blue upturned collar with golden braid references his rank.
The jug features a large applied handle and a turquoise blue glazed interior.
Great color!
9 inches from handle to spout x 6 inches W x 7 inches H – the largest size of this mold.
Marked: Sarreguemines. The mold number 3320. The number 227 denotes Majolica. 04 is for the year 1904
In marvelous condition with the expected light crazing to the glaze.
